You can also rent boards/wetsuits @ CHEAP RENTALS.
Then walk the boards accross the street to the beach.

Gear guidlines on surfing for the first time:
For the first time surfer, a 8 or 9 foot foam board is recommended. If you have a fiberglass or epoxy board, make sure that your board is prewaxed before the lesson starts and that the board will float you well in the water. The board rental place can also help you as well.

Lately the water has been really nice and warm, but wear a wetsuit if you like.
Always bring a leash!

6/28 Surf Session/Bonfire Highlights

July 1st, 2008

I would like to thank all of you who came out and made the Surf Session/Bonfire into an awesome event on Saturday with extra thanks to the gals for coming out so early in the morning to grab us a pit, the gals who donated some firewood, and the gals who took pictures at the event.

It was a great time at La Jolla Shores. There were familiar faces who I haven’t seen in a long while as well as new ones. The weather and the water was warm and pleasant. There were gals surfing, body boarding, swimming, tanning, and playing frisbee and ball. It was also interesting to see a leashed cat being walked on the beach, that’s something you don’t see often. It certainly keep the attention of the gals at the event. Who can’t resist petting a kitty?

We had some excitement with the really huge bonfire that we had in the pit where the lifeguards and the folks who protected our great city applauded us for. It was a terrific bonfire night where girls can be girls. Rumor has it that there was some bikini top burning and some pretty cool skinny dipping action that went on afterwards ;-)

Keep posted to the SD Women’s Surf Group’s postings for more events coming your way. Pictures of the event will be posted soon at our Myspace site at http://myspace.com/sdwomensurfing and Yahoo group at
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/San_Diego_Womens_Surfing_Group/

Sorry ladies no skinny dipping pix are posted, but check them out anyway.

Oh yeah, our website is one the way. Its still under construction but will hold some future events information in the meantime. http://www.sdwomensurfgroup.com/

Until then keep Surfing and always have Fun in whatever you do.
